Former CIMB Niaga Executive Now Leads BPJS Ketenagakerjaan

Jakarta. Veteran banker and former top executive Agus Susanto has been appointed by President Joko Widodo to lead the Social Security Administration Body for Employment, or BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, for the next five years.

Agus, who previously served as the head of securities services at Bank CIMB Niaga, will replace Elvyn G. Masassya as president director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for the period 2016 to 2021.

The social security body, which is Indonesia's largest institutional investor, provides workers with insurance services for occupational accidents and death, as well as a retirement savings and pension scheme.

Agus was inaugurated at the social security body's headquarters, Menara Jamsostek, in Jakarta on Tuesday (23/02).

"Hopefully, in the future, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan can serve as a bridge to assist people with better welfare and help [the nation] build a strong social security [system] that can improve living standards," Agus said in a statement on Wednesday.

The executive, who graduated with a master's degree in management from Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, has served in various positions at several banks, including PermataBank.

Besides banking, Agus also held the positions of president director and director at footwear manufacturer Surya Intrindo Makmur and president commissioner at consumer goods producer Siantar Top.

CIMB Niaga president director Tigor Siahaan meanwhile congratulated his former colleague on his new appointment.

"We congratulate Agus for his new job and thank him for his 25 years of dedication at CIMB Niaga. Hopefully, this will be a spirit booster for us at CIMB Niaga to improve our performance," Tigor said in a press release.

Mulabasa Hutabarat, the chairman of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's supervisory board, also handed over the reins to his successor, Guntur Witjaksono. Guntur will also serve for the 2016-2021 period.

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's new board of directors for the next five years consists of Agus Susanto (president director), Krishna Syarif, Evi Afiatin, Enda Ilyas Lubis, Amran Nasution, Sumarjono and Naufal Mahfudz.

The members of the social security body's new supervisory board are Guntur Witjaksono (chairman), Syafri Adnan Baharuddin, Eko Darwanto, Rekson Silaban, M Aditya Warman, Inda D Hasman and Poempida Hidayatulloh.
